Floating, bloated.

Aunt Marge.

Stinking, sinking.

That barge.

The lingering sting

Left by the hurtful glance

Of a heart-broken wasp.

The foul stench

Started by the stout statesman

Still stomaching stale stew.

The ancient patient

Wishing his tasteless dishes

Were anything but hospital food.

The guilty child.

The guilty parent.

The guilty dog.

The haughty cat.

Flat tires, flat notes.

Fat checks and fatter necks.

As fate would have it.

I doubt it.
